17 Oct The G-Force Source: the ripples of community engagement
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
— Mother Teresa
We strive for that sense of community at G-Force CrossFit. It is the vision of head coach Glen to have not only a high-class fitness conglomerate, but to ensure that people from all walks of life feel welcome and a part of his fitness family. I believe we have that at G-Force. No one is made to feel the lesser or inferior and there is no segregation of athletes. We train as one. Running a small CrossFit box like what we have at G-Force isn’t going to change the world of CrossFit or fitness, but it’s one small step to bring people from the Sutherland Shire and beyond together in the hopes of furthering that sense of community like ripples across a greater ocean.
As a part of the G-Force CrossFit vision, Glen and his family hosted a free barbecue for G-Force’s athletes, their friends and families. We’d like to extend our deepest thanks to everyone that showed up for our fun (but not really fun because thrusters) workout and the barbecue that followed. We are gifted to have such a diverse yet close-knit group. We hope to see our community grow with more people like you.
If y’all haven’t heard, you’ve earnt yourself punishment self-uppercuts and death by burpees. Head coach Glen and his amazing girlfriend got engaged during the Laws family cruise getaway a couple of weeks ago. Brooke has been a part of Glen’s life for a number of years when she trained under Glen at G-Force CrossFit’s predecessor, G-Laws Fitness. Congratulations to this power couple!
Congratulations are also extended to G-Force newcomer Simon who competed at the Odd Socks weightlifting competition on the weekend. Simon joined Atletika Weightlifting under G-Force’s friends Ricky and Sarah for a long day of competition. Simon participated in the 85kg category alongside myself and a number of other boys from Atletika. Simon walked away happy with himself and his decision to give the competition a go.
G-Force will plan an in-house casual weightlifting competition for members only in the future. If this interests you, let your coaches know and preparations can commence.
See you all in the gym.
